4161 Master Cadre Teachers Protest by Burning Show Cause Notices

Garhshankar, July 6:- In response to the ongoing struggle against the Education Department’s issuance of show-cause notices on May 6, 2026, proposing the termination of services for 253 teachers of the 4161 Master Cadre recruitment, the affected teachers staged a massive protest in Garhshankar today. Protesting against this anti-teacher decision by the Punjab government, teachers burned the show-cause notices outside the Gandhi Park Municipal Council office.
Leaders of the 4161 Master Cadre Recast List Teachers Punjab, Balkar Singh Maghania and Harvinder Kaur, stated that the 4161 Master Cadre recruitment was handled poorly due to technical and clerical errors by the Punjab government and the Education Department. They emphasized that these teachers are fully qualified, innocent, and have been serving continuously without any blemish for over three years. Citing the "recasting" of selection lists, the department has issued show-cause notices to terminate their services. Furthermore, the probation period of these teachers has been halted, their transfers have been frozen, and all other allowances have been withheld.
The leaders declared such draconian decrees unacceptable under any circumstances and vowed to continue their firm resistance. They mentioned that Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains has called for a panel meeting today, July 6. They warned that if no meaningful solution to this anti-teacher decision is reached during this meeting, then in collaboration with other fraternal organizations, they will launch a fierce protest at the Education Minister’s village, Gambhirpur, on July 11, 2026. As a symbolic gesture of protest and preparation for the upcoming action, the entire cadre burned the show-cause notices during district-level programs today.
The protest was supported by Vinay Kumar (Block President, Democratic Teacher Front, Garhshankar), Hansraj, Gurmail Singh, and Mandeep Singh (Democratic Pension Front), as well as representatives from 6635 ETT (Kiranjit Kaur, Davinder Singh) and 5994 ETT (Harpreet Kaur, Samundar Gupt, Prince). Teachers Simarjit Kaur, Bagga Singh, Veerpal Kaur, and Kuldeep Singh were also present.
