30 Rural Women Receive Automatic Sewing Machines Under the RAMP Project
Una, August 1: Fully automatic sewing machines were distributed on Saturday at Bachat Bhawan, Una, to 30 rural women from the district who had undergone skill training under the RAMP (Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance) project. The initiative aims to make women financially self-reliant by linking them to self-employment opportunities. Dr. Renu Sehrawat, Chairperson of the Hospital Section of the District Red Cross Society, presided over the event, while Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal attended as the special guest.
Dr. Renu Sehrawat stated that linking women's skills to livelihoods is a crucial step toward making them self-reliant. She noted that the automatic sewing machines provided under the RAMP project would play a vital role in connecting the women's skills with self-employment. An economically empowered woman contributes significantly to the development of both her family and society. She expressed confidence that such efforts would inspire more women to become self-reliant and stand on their own feet.
Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, special priority is being given to the economic empowerment of women. He described this as a significant initiative to link women trained under the RAMP project to self-employment. The district administration is continuously working to make women self-reliant by providing training, resources, and necessary support. He mentioned that through the district administration's 'Samarth' initiative, women are also benefiting from various programs related to education, health, hygiene, and skill development, enabling them to become self-reliant and play an active role in the progress of their families and society.
Joint Director of Industries Anshul Dhiman informed that fully automatic sewing machines from the company 'Singer' have been provided to the 30 rural women with the support of Skill Labs and Singer India, enabling them to start their own self-employment ventures. He stated that the participants underwent a week-long special training program covering topics such as the Business Model Canvas, digital literacy, and financial literacy. Automated sewing machines were provided to the women only after the completion of this training.
He added that the participants were also taken on an industrial visit to Taramandal Mink Pvt. Ltd. in Tahliwal, providing them with practical insights into industrial operations. In the upcoming phase, the women will receive continuous support—including assistance with enterprise registration, credit facilities, cluster formation, and mentorship—to help them establish themselves as successful entrepreneurs.
Officials from various departments and other dignitaries attended the event, including DRDA Project Officer Ramanveer Chauhan, Una Industries Department Manager Akhil Sharma, Skill Labs Director Dr. Himesh Sharma, Taramandal Mink Pvt. Ltd. Founder R.K. Sharma, and DPM Jyoti Sharma.
