17 Indian students died in Canada in the last seven years

New Delhi, February 7:- The Indian government has expressed concern while sharing the data on the deaths of Indian students abroad, especially in Canada. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh told Parliament that between 2018 and 2025, 17 Indian students lost their lives in Canada alone. All these students were victims of various violent attacks.
The Minister of State for External Affairs gave this information in a written reply to a question asked by Member of Parliament Asaduddin Owaisi. Owaisi had asked whether the government is aware of the increasing incidents of violence against Indian students abroad and whether they are being investigated in a timely manner.
According to the information provided by the government, Indian citizens have been victims of violence not only in Canada but also in other countries. He said that 17 deaths have been reported in Canada, 9 deaths in the US, 3 deaths in Australia, 2 deaths in Kyrgyzstan, 1 death each in Britain, China, Denmark, Germany and Grenada.
The Union Minister said that Indian missions abroad are constantly in touch with students. Students are advised to take precautions through orientation before going abroad and after reaching there. They are made aware of the challenges and dangers faced in the respective country.
