13 School Buses Fined Under Special Checking Conducted Under Safe School Vahan Policy
Hoshiarpur:- On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain, a district administration team conducted an inspection of school buses under the Safe School Vahan Policy in Hajipur and Hoshiarpur city, during which 13 buses were issued challans (fined) due to various deficiencies. The district administration inspected school buses in Hajipur on Wednesday and in Hoshiarpur city on Thursday.
Out of a total of 33 buses checked in Hajipur, 7 buses were issued challans for violating the rules. Similarly, a total of 11 school buses were inspected in Hoshiarpur, out of which 6 buses were issued challans.
The deficiencies found in these buses included expired first-aid kits, absence of female attendants, buses operating without passing certificates, lack of speed governors, lack of emergency exits, lack of fire extinguishers, absence of CCTV cameras, carrying children beyond the designated capacity, and lack of insurance documents.
District Child Protection Officer Dr. Harpreet Kaur stated that ignoring the rules of the Safe School Vahan Policy can pose a serious threat to the safety of children. She added that non-compliance with the rules increases the likelihood of accidents. She emphasized that keeping the safety of children in mind, all facilities must be ensured in accordance with the Safe School Vahan Policy.
It is worth mentioning that the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, and the district administration have issued necessary guidelines from time to time in this regard, keeping the safety of school children in mind under the Safe School Vahan Policy.
