112 medicines failed quality tests

New Delhi: The government has released shocking information about the quality of medicines in the country. In September 2025, 112 medicine samples failed quality tests. This means that these medicines can harm patients instead of curing them.
Of these 112 samples, 52 were tested by the Central Drugs Laboratory, while 60 samples were found to be of poor quality by state laboratories. A medicine sample was also found to be adulterated in Chhattisgarh. The Health Ministry released the report.
An official said that the quality of medicines is checked every month. In September, medicine samples were collected from several cities. 112 medicines failed one or more quality parameters, such as the presence of an active ingredient in the medicine or any other deficiency.
Officials said that the problem affected only the batches tested and did not mean that other medicines of the company were also defective. It does not affect other medicines available in the market. This includes medicines from many major companies.
