100Day Campaign Underway to Make the District Child MarriageFree

Ratia, January 28: The Women and Child Development Department of Fatehabad is conducting a special 100-day campaign with the objective of making the district child marriage-free. As part of this campaign, on Wednesday, Women Protection and Child Marriage Prohibition Officer Rekha Agarwal, along with her colleague Constable Saroj, the Station House Officer of Sadar Police Station, and other city officials, conducted awareness activities in Ratia.
During the campaign, with the cooperation of the police station, the granthis (priests) of the gurdwaras, pandits, palace managers, guesthouse operators, caterers, DJ sound providers, and photographers in the Ratia area were given detailed information about the Child Marriage Prohibition Act.
They were instructed to thoroughly check the age-related documents of the bride and groom before any upcoming marriage ceremonies and to verify the age only on the basis of birth certificates or school certificates, and not solely on the basis of Aadhaar cards. They were also instructed to keep a copy of all documents safely in their records. They were informed that legal action would be taken against those who violate the orders.
Women Protection and Child Marriage Prohibition Officer Rekha Agarwal said that if the age is found to be below the legal limit in any marriage, the information can be immediately reported to 112, 181, or 1098. She also clarified that there is a provision for legal action against anyone who plays any role in a child marriage. On this occasion, everyone was also given information about the Child Marriage Free India portal. The ill effects of child marriage were explained in detail so that the district can be made completely child marriage-free.
