Nawanshahr- Red Cross Integrated Rehabilitation Center for Drug Victims Nawanshahr organized an anti-drug awareness camp under "Drug-Free India Campaign" at Government Senior Secondary School, Lidder Kalan (Nawanshahr). This camp was presided over by Shri Amrik Singh (School Incharge).

On this occasion, Sardar Chaman Singh (Project Director) while addressing the students said that today youth is being ruined due to drugs.
Many youths lose their lives every day. While today the Government of India and the Punjab Government are working in various ways to make the country drug-free, the Indian Red Cross Punjab State Branch, Chandigarh, is making efforts to make the youth drug-free with the support of the Ministry of Social Justice, Government of India.
He gave detailed information to the students about the ill effects of drugs and also shared tips on staying away from it. He told the students that children unknowingly start using drugs under the influence of their elders, which later becomes very difficult to quit. Also mentioning the diseases caused by drug use, he said that viruses like black jaundice and HIV affect the youth, which are very dangerous.
The fabric of society is being disrupted due to drug use and there is economic depression and people are falling victim to mental illnesses. He explained to the children that you should not fall prey to anyone and take any kind of drug like; tobacco, alcohol, cannabis, heroin, etc. He also made them aware that mental health is also necessary to fulfill dreams.
Because people who use drugs become mentally ill. They cannot fulfill their dreams. It was also said that to get rid of drugs, it should start from home. On this occasion, Mr. Amrik Singh (School Incharge) made the students aware about drugs and thanked the Red Cross team and said that our staff and students will also contribute to the Drug Free India Campaign and the War on Drugs.
He assured that they will continue to organize anti-drug awareness camps in the future as well. On this occasion, Parvesh Kumar, school staff member Amanjot Kaur, Talwinder Singh, Sandeep Singh, Varinder Singh, Ashok Kumar, Kulwinder Kaur and a large number of students were present.
