Karnal, October 4: Justice Harsimran Singh Sethi of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and Administrator of the Karnal Sessions Division visited the District Jail on Saturday, inspecting the arrangements and planting trees in the prison premises. During the visit, he interacted with the inmates and learned about their problems.

District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, Ajay Kumar Sharda, Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Dr. Iram Hasan, and Chief Judicial Magistrate Khushboo Goyal were present on the occasion. Upon arrival at the District Jail, Jail Superintendent Lakhbir Singh Brar welcomed everyone. During the visit, the inmates sang a welcome song and performed cultural performances.
Judge Harsimran Singh Sethi urged the inmates to hone their skills and maintain good conduct by learning something of interest during their prison term. He stated that the skills learned here will be useful to them even after they leave prison.
After this, Judge Harsimran Singh Sethi inaugurated the library in the women's ward and interacted with the women prisoners to know how often a woman lawyer from DLSA visits to provide legal aid. He visited the video conferencing room as well as the kitchen of the women prisoners.
The judge visited the beauty parlor, fashion studio, crèche and library in the jail premises and took stock of the facilities provided there. He also inspected the radio station in the premises. He saw the goods prepared by the prisoners in the Udyogshala. He visited the library and cosmetology lab in the Pathashala.
