Una, 01 September- Deputy Commissioner Una Jatin Lal said that the administration is fully prepared for relief, rescue and restoration work in the midst of the situation arising due to heavy rains in Una district. The work of opening roads, removing waterlogging and debris and providing assistance to the affected people is going on continuously.

He said that all the departments are on alert mode and public safety is our top priority. The administration stands with the public in every situation. Most of the roads closed due to landslides have been restored.
It is worth noting that life in Una district has been affected due to continuous torrential rains. Rivers and streams are in spate and there have been reports of water entering houses and damage to properties at many places. Development projects have also been affected. Immediate financial assistance is being provided to the affected families as per the disaster relief manual.
According to the preliminary damage report, the district has suffered a loss of about Rs 555.55 lakh in the last 24 hours. The Public Works Department has suffered the highest loss of Rs 522.05 lakh.
Apart from this, the loss of Rs 5 lakh has been estimated due to the damage of 1 fully pukka house and Rs 1.50 lakh due to the complete damage of 1 kutcha house. At the same time, 7 pukka houses have suffered partial damage of Rs 3.45 lakh and 21 kutcha houses have suffered partial damage of Rs 8.45 lakh.
In the report, damage of Rs 3.90 lakh to 18 cowsheds, Rs 7 lakh to 1 revenue building structure, Rs 2 lakh to Nagar Panchayat Gagret and Rs 2.20 lakh to 6 retaining walls has been recorded. Further detailed damage report is yet to be received.
