
Water Level in Ghaggar Under Control; Residents Advised Not to Rely on Rumours – DC
Derabassi/Lalru (SAS Nagar), September 01:- Dismissing rumours regarding any immediate danger from the Ghaggar River in Derabassi and Lalru areas, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal today assured residents that the situation is under control and there is no need for panic.

“Both Ghaggar embankments at Tiwana and Alamgir are intact. Our teams are continuously monitoring the situation and are fully prepared to take immediate action if required,” said DC Komal Mittal while visiting the Alamgir and Tiwana sites this morning.
She informed that two to three vulnerable points were identified on the Alamgir side, and the Drainage Department has been directed to strengthen them without delay. The DC further stated that the flow of water in the Ghaggar in Derabassi and Lalru is below danger mark and there is no threat at present.
Referring to the release of additional water from Sukhna Headworks earlier today, she said that the flow remained normal and passed smoothly without any sudden rise.
The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by SDM Derabassi Amit Gupta, Executive Engineer (Drainage) Khushwinder Singh, and Tehsildar Derabassi Sumeet Singh Dhillon. She also interacted with local farmers and assured them of prompt redressal of their concerns.
