Under the scheme, financial assistance of Rs 51 thousand is provided to the eligible families, which not only helps in marriage expenses, but also helps in making the new beginning of the life of daughters happy and bright.
* Strong support for poor families
Sushma Devi of Bahdala village of Una sub-division, whose daughter Shalini got married in December 2023, says that her family comes under the BPL category. After the death of her husband, the entire responsibility of education and upbringing of four children fell on her shoulders. Raising the expenses of daughter's marriage was the biggest concern for her.
Sushma Devi says that during this time she came to know that the state government provides financial assistance of Rs 51,000 for the marriage of daughters of BPL families. She contacted the local Anganwadi worker and applied for the benefit of the scheme and this assistance received from the Chief Minister Kanyadan Yojana was no less than a lifesaver for her.
Sushma Devi says that this scheme is a big support related to respect for the daughters of poor families. For this, she never gets tired of thanking the Chief Minister Mr. Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu from the bottom of her heart.
At the same time, beneficiary Shalini says that with this help from the government, the expenses of the marriage were easily met. It was even more pleasing to see that the state government is sensitive like a guardian towards the daughters of all poor families like her.
*14 eligible families got financial assistance under the Chief Minister Kanyadan Yojana
District Program Officer (ICDS) Una, Narendra Kumar says that the Chief Minister Kanyadan Yojana is acting as a support in the marriage of daughters of poor families.
He informed that in the last one and a half years, financial assistance of Rs. 7 lakh 14 thousand has been provided to 14 eligible families of Una district.
He says that the department is constantly making efforts to ensure that the benefits of the scheme reach every eligible beneficiary. Departmental officers, Anganwadi workers and supervisors are collectively working actively at the field level.

Narendra Kumar says that under the Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana, destitute girls whose father has died, former residents of Nari Seva Sadan or neglected, daughters of abandoned, divorced women or whose father is unable to earn his livelihood due to physical or mental disability and the annual income of the guardians of the girls does not exceed Rs. 50 thousand, all will be eligible to take advantage of this scheme. Under this scheme, after applying for the marriage of the girl on a prescribed form along with the income certificate verified by the concerned Tehsildar, an amount of Rs. 51 thousand is provided by the government.
*Application process
The District Program Officer said that eligible beneficiaries can contact the District Program Officer, Child Development Project Officer, Supervisor or Anganwadi worker. Application can be made from two months before the date of marriage to six months after the date of marriage.

Deputy Commissioner Una Jatin Lal says that as per the instructions of Chief Minister Shri Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, the district administration is fully committed to effectively deliver the benefits of all welfare schemes of the government including the Chief Minister Kanyadan Yojana to every eligible beneficiary.
This scheme is being actively implemented to provide financial support in the marriage of daughters of poor families and the administration is constantly engaged in benefiting the economically weaker sections.
