Moscow, July 7 - The Kremlin, the center of power in Russia, said on Monday that the BRICS group of diverse countries is not working to undermine or weaken other countries. Russia's announcement about the group comes after US President Donald Trump said he would impose 10 percent tariffs on countries engaged in "anti-American policies." Trump made the comments in response to the BRICS leaders' summit in Brazil on Sunday. Asked about Trump's comments, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the Kremlin had taken note of them. "We have indeed seen such statements by President Trump, but it is important to note here that the uniqueness of a group like BRICS is that it is a group of countries that create a common worldview on how to cooperate based on a common vision and their interests," Peskov said. He also said, “And this cooperation within BRICS has never been and never will be against any third country.” It is worth noting that Russia is also a founding member of BRICS, along with India, China, Brazil and South Africa.
