Hoshiarpur:- As part of the "War Against Drugs" campaign, the District De-addiction and Rehabilitation Society, Hoshiarpur, formally launched district-level help desks at public places under Mission Smile 3.0. The program was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairperson, District De-addiction and Rehabilitation Society, Hoshiarpur, Ashika Jain, in the presence of Deputy Medical Commissioner, Dr. Swati Sheemaar.
On this occasion, Medical Officer in-charge, District De-addiction and Rehabilitation Center, Hoshiarpur, Dr. Jasleen Kaur, Counselor Prashant Adia, Counselor Sandeep Kumari, Psychiatric Social Worker Sukhpreet Kaur, District Technical Coordinator Manjinder Kaur, District IT Manager Karamjit Singh, and District Manager, Service Center, Hoshiarpur, Gursewak Singh, along with other officers and staff were present.
Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain stated that these help desks, launched under Mission Smile 3.0, will help individuals suffering from drug addiction by providing them with timely treatment. They will play a crucial role in connecting and raising awareness among the general public about the ill effects of drug abuse, mental health, and available treatment options.
He explained that under the Punjab Government's "War Against Drugs" campaign, Village Defense Committees have been formed in villages and Ward Defense Committees in urban areas to make collective efforts to make society drug-free. Such efforts will help protect Punjab's young generation from drug addiction.
Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr. Swati Sheemar stated that Mission Smile is an ambitious project of the Punjab Government, under which help desks are being set up in district, sub-divisional, municipal, district and sub-divisional court complexes, bus stands, district hospitals, sub-divisional hospitals, OOAT clinics, community health centers, police stations, and government colleges.
On this occasion, counselors stated that this initiative will strengthen the "War Against Drugs" campaign and will prove to be an effective step towards making Punjab drug-free and prosperous.
