Hansi: Superintendent of Police (SP) Hansi, Amit Yashvardhan (IPS), has appealed to the general public, stating that in today's digital era, safeguarding one's personal information on computers and mobile phones has become absolutely essential. Cybercriminals constantly devise new methods to attempt to defraud people; therefore, it is crucial for citizens to remain aware and vigilant. The Hansi Police also periodically conduct special campaigns to raise public awareness regarding cybercrimes.
The SP of Hansi advised that strong passwords should be used on all digital devices—including mobile phones, computers, and tablets—and that high-quality antivirus software should be kept installed to provide protection against any type of virus or unauthorized activity.
He noted that cybercriminals often attempt to acquire personal information by enticing or intimidating people through phishing emails, fake links, and social media platforms. Therefore, one should exercise caution before clicking on any suspicious link and should not trust emails or messages received from unknown sources.
He further explained that one should avoid using common and easily guessable passwords, such as "123456" or "password." Instead, strong passwords should be created by combining letters, numbers, and special characters. Additionally, wherever possible, two-factor authentication or biometric security measures should be utilized.
He also stated that if anyone falls victim to any form of online fraud, they should immediately call the National Cyber ??Helpline number 1930 or register a complaint on the portal www.cybercrime.gov.in. Furthermore, complaints can also be lodged at the nearest police station or cyber help desk.
The SP of Hansi appealed to the general public to exercise vigilance while using digital platforms and to refrain from sharing their personal information with any unknown individuals or suspicious websites, thereby ensuring their safety against cybercrimes.
