Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, September 30:- A three-day training programme for the second batch of Field Trainers (FTs) for Phase-II of Census 2027 (Population Enumeration) was held from September 28 to September 30 at the Conference Hall, Municipal Corporation Building, Sector-68, Mohali. The training programme was conducted under the supervision of Principal Census Officer (PCO) and Municipal Corporation Commissioner, Mohali, Sandeep Singh Gadhha. During the programme, training is being imparted by Master Trainers who have received training from National Trainers.
Municipal Corporation Commissioner Sandeep Singh Gadhha, PCS, motivated the Field Trainers during the training programme to perform their duties with complete honesty, accuracy and mutual coordination, so that the work of Phase-II of Census 2027 could be completed smoothly and accurately.
In district SAS Nagar, there is a capacity for a total of 76 Field Trainers, including those of the Municipal Corporation, who are to be trained in two batches. The training of the first batch was completed from September 22 to 24, 2026, while the training of the second batch was held at the Municipal Corporation office. After completion of this training, the Field Trainers will train the actual field staff of district SAS Nagar, namely Enumerators and Supervisors, who will be directly involved in the Population Enumeration work.
As per the programme already announced by the Government of India, self-enumeration in Punjab will be conducted from November 16 to November 30, 2026. Thereafter, the Population Enumeration work will be carried out from December 1, 2026 to January 4, 2027, and the revision round will be conducted from January 5 to January 9, 2027. Before the door-to-door survey, people can enter their census-related information online through the official self-enumeration portal/website of the Government of India.
During the three-day training from September 28 to September 30, 2026, information was provided on all important aspects related to Population Enumeration. During the training, participants were explained in detail about the 40 questions to be asked during enumeration, the method of asking them correctly and their importance in collecting accurate census data. In addition, practical training will also be provided on operating the PE Mobile App (Population Enumeration App) and preparing the layout map of the Enumeration Block.
On this occasion, Master Trainers Mukesh Kumar and Vishal Dhoomra are imparting training to the Field Trainers. City Census Officer Navdeep Singh, PCS, Mohali, also attended the training programme. Besides, the Charge Officer, Charge Clerk and Technical Assistants of the Municipal Corporation office were also present.
