Kharar:- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Punjab State Treasurer, Sukhwinder Singh Goldy, launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab, stating that to gain power, a promise was made to provide ?1000 per month to the mothers and sisters of Punjab. However, even after more than four and a half years of the government's formation, this promise remains unfulfilled. He termed this the biggest electoral betrayal against the women of Punjab.
Sukhwinder Singh Goldy said that the AAP, which made tall claims during the elections, has now backed out of its own promises. He stated that if every eligible woman were to be given ?1000 per month, the government would require approximately ?21,472 crore annually. It is now clear that the government neither has the financial arrangements for this scheme nor the will to fulfill its promise.
He alleged that the government is now playing the politics of deception to divert public attention from its unfulfilled promise. Instead of fulfilling the promise made to every woman during the elections, efforts are being made to hide failures by providing benefits on a limited scale. He added that if any scheme's benefits are distributed on the basis of bias, it is a mockery of the trust of lakhs of mothers and sisters in Punjab.
The BJP leader said that the mothers and sisters of Punjab had cast their valuable votes in the AAP with trust, but in return, they received only false promises and disappointment. The women of Punjab will never forget this betrayal and will give a befitting reply in a democratic manner in the times to come.
Sukhwinder Singh Goldy urged the Punjab government to immediately implement the promise of giving ?1000 per month to every woman without any discrimination if it is serious about its commitments. He asserted that the people of Punjab no longer want promises, but their fulfillment.
