Karnal, January 23: Amidst slogans of "Long live Sir Chhotu Ram," the birth anniversary of the great farmer and labor leader, Rehber-e-Azam Deenbandhu Sir Chhotu Ram, was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Rehber-e-Azam Deenbandhu Sir Chhotu Ram Kisan Bhawan in Karnal on the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami. The program was presided over by the District President of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, Surender Singh Ghumman, while the proceedings were conducted by District General Secretary Surender Singh Beniwal.
The program began with offering floral tributes to the portrait of Sir Chhotu Ram, paying him heartfelt homage. A large number of farmers, laborers, and office bearers of the organization were present on this occasion. Everyone remembered Sir Chhotu Ram as the true messiah of farmers and laborers and recalled his struggles and sacrifices. Ratan Mann, the State President of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, who was the chief speaker, said that during the British rule, Chaudhary Sir Chhotu Ram enacted historical and revolutionary laws to free the farmers and laborers from the debt trap.
He implemented laws under which the houses, bullock carts, women's jewelry, and household utensils of any farmer or laborer could not be auctioned off in lieu of debt.
Ratan Mann said that during his tenure, Sir Chhotu Ram formed a Debt Relief Board and freed the lands of farmers and laborers that had been fraudulently seized, returning them legally to their rightful owners. He prioritized the economic security of farmers and laborers and worked to make them self-reliant.
The State President questioned the current system of governance, saying that today, farmers and laborers are being evicted from their own homes for not being able to repay their loans, which is completely contrary to the ideology of Sir Chhotu Ram. He said that Sir Chhotu Ram's policies are still as relevant today, and following the path shown by him is the need of the hour to secure the rights of farmers and laborers. At the end of the program, the organization resolved to intensify the fight for the rights of farmers and laborers by following the principles of Sir Chhotu Ram. Box
On January 26th, the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Indian Farmers' Union) will organize a state-level tricolor rally, in which thousands of tractors will participate. The rally will start from Ramrai village in Jind and conclude at the Martyrs' Memorial in Gulkani village. This tricolor rally will be led by the National General Secretary of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, Yudhveer Singh Sehrawat. On this occasion, all the farmers and laborers took an oath to follow the path shown by Chaudhary Sir Chhotu Ram and resolved that the fight for the rights and entitlements of farmers would be continued with full strength. The demand for making farmers and laborers debt-free was also raised prominently. This rally will symbolize patriotism, farmer unity, and the resolve to protect their rights.
On this occasion, Prem Singh Sangwan, Surender Beniwal, Ramphal Narwal, Satish Kumar, Mahendra Singh Madhan, Surender Pal Singh, Ramesh Kumar, Kanwar Singh Rana, Collector Singh Rana, Ram Prakash, Rajkumar, Surender Sangwan, Prakash Deshwal, Vedpal Sangwan, Devender Sangwan, Rajkumar Nautna, Tinu Sohana, and many other farmers and organization workers were present.
