March 9, Chandigarh:- After the recent meeting of all teachers' organizations with the Education Minister Punjab, the Sanjha Adiyesh Morcha under the chairmanship of state leader Krishan Singh Duggan and all the teachers' organizations opposing the forced imposition of TET have held a joint meeting and decided that if the Punjab government does not pass the bill/resolution against the TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) being forcibly imposed on teachers in the current Vidhan Sabha session as per the assurance given by the Education Minister Punjab Harjot Singh Bains, then a protest march will be held from Sector-17, Chandigarh to the Punjab Vidhan Sabha on March 12.
Sukhwinder Singh Chahal, Digvijaypal Sharma, Surinder Kumar Puari, Vikram Dev Singh, Surinder Kamboj, Baj Singh Khaira, Bikramjit Singh Kaddon, Pargatjit Singh Kishanpura, Harbhajan Singh, Prashant Raiya, Jaswinder Singh, Gurpyar Singh Kotli, Gurbinder Singh Saskaur, Navpreet Balli, Lachhman Singh Nabipur, Sukhwinder Singh Sukhi, ND Tiwari, Gurpreet Singh Ammiwal, Kuljit Singh, Sandeep Kumar, Sukhwinder Singh, Sukhdev Kajal, Tejinder Singh, Jagdish Rai, Ajaypal Singh, Harman Preet Singh Bal etc. were present in this meeting.
The teachers' organizations have demanded that the Honorable Supreme Court pass a bill in the ongoing budget session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha to stop the unconstitutional decision of TET imposed on lakhs of teachers of the country on 01.09.2025 by ignoring the NCTE notification and natural justice.
Along with this, a review petition has been filed in the Supreme Court to provide justice to the teachers appointed according to the qualifications determined by NCTE before the implementation of TET and the merit of various tests from time to time, and teachers of Physical Education, Art and Craft and Home Science etc. should be kept out of the TET condition as per paragraph 5.(b) of the NCTE notification dated 29 July 2011.
The leaders also strongly demanded that the promotions of the teachers appointed through the above process before the implementation of TET and the teachers appointed after the implementation of TET should be done immediately according to seniority and that the TET paper being taken for initial appointment in Punjab on 15 March should not be imposed on the teachers appointed through the above process before the implementation of TET. They demanded cancellation of the notice issued by the Education Department to revert 245 Commerce lecturers who were promoted between the years 2008 and 2024.
Along with this, all the organizations expressed their protest over the cancellation of the letter issued in 2017 on 07.02.2026, exempting some categories from TET in promotions. The government was also strongly condemned for presenting its position weakly in the case pending in the Hon'ble High Court regarding the promotions of principals.
