Patiala, October 5 (Manpreet Singh):- The state-level organizational convention of the “Istari Mulazim Talmel Committee Punjab”, a fighting organization of women employees working in various departments across the state, was held at Desh Bhagat Yadgar Hall, Jalandhar. The convention was conducted under the leadership of the presidium comprising Harmanpreet Kaur Gill, Gurpreet Kaur, Ranjit Kaur Patti, Bimla Rani, Sharmila Rani and Rano Kheri Gillan. Women employees from various departments across the state participated in the convention.
Professor Surinder Kaur Jaipal, State General Secretary of the Mahila Mukti Morcha, who specially attended the convention, elaborated on the condition of women in the state, country and society. Referring to the atrocities committed against women by those in power in the past and the achievements made by women through struggles for improvement in their standard of living, she inspired them to continue their struggles in the future.
Addressing the gathering, PSSF State President Satish Rana and State General Secretary Tirath Singh Bassi said that the Istari Mulazim Talmel Committee has a very glorious history and that continuing the struggle for the demands of women employees is the need of the hour.
Thereafter, organizational General Secretary Gurpreet Kaur presented the activity report, while Finance Secretary Ranjit Kaur presented the financial report. Speaking on the activity report, various speakers, including Shavinder Kaur, Mamta Rani, Bimla Rani, Kamaljit Kaur, Rano Kheri Gillan, Sharmila Devi, Praveen Bala, Lakhwinder Kaur and Gurjit Kaur, shared the problems faced in their respective departments and the struggles being carried out by the organizations. They also demanded that the safety of women be ensured in the present circumstances.
PSSF leaders Inderjit Virdi, Kuldeep Daurka and Raj Bedi spoke about the importance of the organization and the need for struggles. They called for district-level conventions to get the demands of women employees resolved and urged them to make their due contribution during the forthcoming Assembly elections to defeat the Bhagwant Mann government.
PSSF State Finance Secretary Gurdeep Singh Bajwa presented the panel for the next committee, which was passed unanimously by the entire house amid slogans. Shavinder Kaur, Firozpur; Nirmaljit Kaur, Amritsar; Ramandeep Kaur, Firozpur; Asha Rani, Hoshiarpur; Charanjit Kaur, Tarn Taran; Gurmel Kaur, Faridkot; Amarjoti Mangat, Firozpur; and Kiran Kumari, Jalandhar were elected as executive members.
At the conclusion, the State President thanked all the comrades and assured that, keeping in view the shortcomings and weaknesses of the past, the entire state committee would work with full dedication in the future for the demands of women employees. Announcing the next struggles, she said that district committees would be formed in October, after which a massive state-level rally of the Istari Mulazim Talmel Committee would be held in Sangrur, the constituency of the Chief Minister, on November 1. She appealed to all women employees to participate in large numbers in the ongoing joint struggles.
