Dhuri/Sherpur Sodhiyaan, October 10:- The final match of Sangrur Kabaddi League Season 2 and a show match between international kabaddi clubs were organised with great enthusiasm and grandeur in the village of Sherpur Sodhiyaan in the Dhuri Assembly constituency. Dalvir Singh Dhillon, Chairman of the Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation (PSIEC), attended the sporting event as a special guest, while Councillor Pushpinder Sharma was also present.
On the occasion, Chairman Dalvir Singh Dhillon met the players and encouraged them. He also appreciated the efforts of the organisers in successfully conducting the tournament. He said that kabaddi is an important part of Punjab’s rich sporting heritage and that such sporting competitions help generate interest in sports among young people while channeling their energy in a constructive direction.
He said that connecting young people with sports is extremely important for keeping them away from drugs and encouraging them to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Such sporting events in villages provide young people with a platform to showcase their talent and also strengthen mutual brotherhood and social bonds.
He said that the role of social organisations, village panchayats and sports clubs in promoting sports is commendable. Such collective efforts further strengthen sports culture in rural areas and provide young people with opportunities to hone their abilities.
A large number of local residents, sports enthusiasts and other prominent personalities were present on the occasion.
