Hoshiarpur/Daljit Ajnoha:- To ensure the availability of safe and quality food products to the public during the festive season and curb food adulteration, the Health Department’s Food Safety Team is conducting a special checking drive across the district. Under the directions of Punjab Commissioner of Food and Drug Administration, Mrs. Kanwalpreet Kaur Brar, IAS; Hoshiarpur Deputy Commissioner, Mrs. Ashika Jain, IAS; and Civil Surgeon Hoshiarpur, Dr. Mandeep Kamal, Food Safety teams are conducting regular inspections and sampling under the leadership of District Health Officer Dr. Jatinder Bhatia. The main objective of the drive is to ensure food quality, prevent adulteration and protect public health.

As part of this campaign, Food Safety Officer (FSO) Vivek and his team set up checkpoints at Prabhat Chowk and the Phagwara bypass this morning to inspect buses arriving from Delhi. Food products being transported on the buses were checked. Particular attention was paid to the quality of paneer, khoya and other milk-based food products to ensure that unadulterated and quality food reaches consumers during the festive season. One milk sample and one paneer sample were collected and sent for testing. Further action will be taken according to the rules after the test reports are received.

The Health Department has appealed to the public to exercise special caution while purchasing food products such as milk, paneer, khoya and sweets. People should buy food items only from reliable shops and should not compromise on quality. Anyone who suspects adulteration or poor quality in food products should inform the Health Department.

The Health Department clarified that action under food safety regulations will be ensured against those who play with public health during the festive season. The inspection and sampling drive will continue to maintain the quality and safety of food products.
