Banga/Nawanshahr:- In collaboration with the Punjab Government and the Education Department, a two-day inter-college competition was organized at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar under the awareness campaign against the war against drugs. The main objective of these competitions was to inspire students to stay away from drugs and connect with their culture and heritage. In these competitions, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, invited all the colleges affiliated to the university for these competitions.
In these competitions, the Department of Art and Culture participated in various items under the able leadership of Principal Dr. Tarsem Singh Bhinder. Dean Dr. Gurvinder Singh and Deputy Dean S. Manmant Singh Librarian from the Department of Art and Culture said that 11 events were organized in these inter-college culture competitions. The college participated in only six events. It is worth mentioning that this time the Punjab government has also kept cash prize money and a trophy to encourage the students.
Among the college students, Harshdeep Singh won a cash prize of Rs. 8000 and a trophy by winning the first place in the poster making competition while competing with 31 colleges. Shahid Ali won a cash prize of Rs. 11000 and a trophy by winning the first place in the folk song competition while competing with 23 colleges. Sukhmanvir won a cash prize of Rs. 2000 and a trophy by winning the third place out of 26 teams in the poetry competition.
In this way, the college brought glory to the name of Sikh National College by securing the overall third place. Principal Tarsem Singh Bhinder appreciated these efforts of the Punjab government and congratulated these students on reaching the college. On this occasion, Principal Tarsem Singh, Culture Dean Gurvinder Singh, Deputy Dean Sardar Manmant Singh Librarian, Prof. Tajinder Singh and Superintendent Sardar Paramjit Singh along with the winning students were specially present.
