Ratia, 10 October (Advocate Gurpreet Singh Mander):- Under the guidance and directions of Superintendent of Police Nikita Khattar, IPS, as part of the special campaign against drug trafficking, Sadar Ratia Police have recovered a consignment of 9,600 intoxicant tablets and arrested one accused. According to the police, the recovered tablets fall under the commercial quantity category and have an estimated market value of around ₹7 lakh. The seized tablets include 6,000 Tramadol tablets and 3,600 Alprazolam tablets. The accused has been identified as Khajan Singh, son of Fauja Singh, a resident of village Mehmra, Fatehabad district. He will be produced before the competent court. During a press briefing, DSP Ratia Kulwant Singh, HPS, shared details of the operation and said that police teams were continuously working under the directions of SP Nikita Khattar, IPS, to curb the illegal purchase and sale of narcotic substances. As part of this effort, on 9 October, a police team led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Jyoti Prasad, in-charge of Mehmra Police Post, was patrolling the Dhani Babanpur area to prevent crime. During this time, the police received confidential information that Khajan Singh, a resident of Mehmra village who practises medicine in Badalgarh village, was involved in the illegal sale of intoxicant tablets. According to the information, he was going to transport a large consignment of tablets to the Birewala area of Punjab.

The DSP said that after receiving the information, the police team acted promptly near Ravidas Dharamshala in Badalgarh village. At that time, a man carrying a blue-and-black bag was seen approaching. On noticing the police vehicle, he suddenly turned around and began walking away quickly. Suspecting his movements, the police team stopped and apprehended him. During questioning, he identified himself as Khajan Singh. In the presence of DSP Bhuna Nar Singh, HPS, and independent witnesses, the accused and his bag were searched in accordance with legal procedures. The search led to the recovery of 6,000 Tramadol tablets packed in 600 strips and 3,600 Alprazolam tablets packed in 240 strips. The Tramadol tablets weighed 1 kilogram and 636 grams, while the Alprazolam tablets weighed 722 grams. Thus, the police recovered a total of 9,600 intoxicant tablets weighing 2 kilograms and 358 grams. Their estimated market value is around ₹7 lakh.

The DSP said the recovered tablets were sealed and taken into police possession in accordance with the prescribed procedure. A case has been registered against the accused at Sadar Ratia Police Station under FIR No. 218, dated 09.10.2026, under Sections 22C/61/85 of the NDPS Act, and further investigation has begun.

DSP Kulwant Singh said that, under the directions of SP Nikita Khattar, IPS, an intensive campaign against drug trafficking is being carried out continuously under the leadership of Sadar Ratia Police Station SHO Sheeshpal. Police teams are conducting patrols, surveillance and action based on confidential information to crack down on people involved in the illegal narcotics trade. The recovery of 9,600 intoxicant tablets is an important achievement under this campaign. He said serious efforts are also being made to identify the entire network involved in trafficking, alongside curbing the illegal purchase and sale of narcotics.

The DSP further said that, under the guidance of SP Nikita Khattar, special attention is being given to breaking the supply chain of narcotics. The police are investigating where the accused obtained such a large quantity of tablets, which individuals in Punjab were to receive them, and who else may be involved in this illegal trade. If the involvement of any other person emerges during the investigation, strict legal action will also be taken against them in accordance with the law.

DSP Kulwant Singh said that the objective of Fatehabad Police is not limited to recovering narcotics and arresting accused persons, but also to reaching the roots of the illegal drug trade and dismantling its entire supply chain. Under the leadership of SP Nikita Khattar, IPS, the campaign against drug trafficking is continuing with full commitment. He made it clear that the district would not tolerate the illegal drug trade under any circumstances. He appealed to the public to immediately inform the police about any activity related to the illegal sale or trafficking of narcotic substances. Public cooperation, he said, would strengthen efforts to take effective action against drug traffickers and achieve the goal of a drug-free Fatehabad.
