Chandigarh, 25 September:- The NSS Department of Rayat Bahra University (RBU), in collaboration with Rotary Club Chandigarh Central and Shri Shiv Kanwar Mahasangh Charitable Trust, organised a blood donation camp with the support of the medical team of Government Hospital, Sector-16, Chandigarh. A total of 70 units of blood were collected during the camp.
The camp was organised as part of a seven-day special NSS camp, aimed at creating awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation and motivating youth to donate blood to help save the lives of patients in need.
The camp was inaugurated by RBU Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Kumar in the presence of Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Satish Kumar Bansal and Rotary Club Chandigarh Central President Wing Commander J.S. Minhas. On the occasion, the dignitaries appreciated the initiative of the NSS Department and encouraged the volunteers to actively participate in social service and welfare activities.
The medical team of Government Hospital, Sector-16, Chandigarh, carried out the entire blood donation process in accordance with medical standards and the required safety protocols. The NSS volunteers not only assisted the medical team but also played an important role in making arrangements for the camp and maintaining discipline.
NSS Director Prof. (Major) A.S. Chahal said that the objective of such initiatives is to inculcate a sense of social responsibility among students and motivate them to serve humanity. He said that voluntary blood donation can prove to be a lifesaving act for a patient in need.
During the camp, NSS volunteers and other participants took part enthusiastically. The entire camp was successfully conducted under the supervision of Prof. (Major) A.S. Chahal.
