Bishkek/Kyrgyzstan:- Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on Monday. The two leaders hugged each other during the meeting and held bilateral discussions. Modi told Putin that we must move away from never-ending wars and work towards ending them; India supports all efforts aimed at peace. The Prime Minister invited Putin to attend the BRICS Summit to be held in September. Earlier, Modi held bilateral meetings with the heads of state of Iran, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia.
He also met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. The ongoing SCO Summit in Bishkek has the theme 'Moving Forward Together for Peace, Development and Prosperity'. Leaders of 10 member countries, including India, China, Russia, Pakistan and Iran, are participating in the event. Modi will also attend the opening ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games in Bishkek.
Prime Minister Modi invited Russian President Putin to the BRICS Summit to be held in India next month. Modi said, "India is hosting the BRICS Summit in a few days. All Indians are very eager to welcome you and your delegation."
We must move towards ending wars — Modi
Modi said, "We have always discussed the situation in Ukraine. The last time we met, you briefed me in detail about all aspects of the situation. We must move beyond never-ending wars and work towards ending them. India supports all efforts towards peace. Resolving all issues through peaceful means is a call of humanity."
Number of Indian students studying in Russia has increased sevenfold: Putin

Over the past few years, this figure has increased sevenfold to reach 40,000. We regularly organise cultural festivals between India and Russia. There is also significant tourist exchange between us, which has seen a 16% increase. We maintain close coordination in our efforts within the United Nations, BRICS, G20 and SCO. Today, we have a good opportunity to exchange views on the development of Russia-India relations and outline a framework for future cooperation."
