Chandigarh:- Amidst the global situation and the impact on the supply chain, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has made a big statement. He said that Punjab will once again come forward as a 'crisis solver' and is ready to transport wheat and rice lying in the state's godowns to every corner of the country. For this, if necessary, the Central Government should run special trains.
CM Mann said that a virtual meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in which Union Home Minister Amit Shah was also present. The Punjab government clearly said that the state has sufficient grain stocks and it should be lifted immediately so that there is no obstacle in the procurement of the new crop.
He said that Punjab has a stock of about 171 lakh metric tons of wheat and 139 lakh metric tons of rice, which can be sent across the country under the Public Distribution System and the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana. The CM emphasized that rapid lifting through special trains is necessary, as the new crop will reach the markets in the coming days.
