Hoshiarpur- The 66th Police Memorial Day was celebrated with devotion and respect at Police Lines Hoshiarpur yesterday in honour of the brave police personnel who laid down their lives for the unity and integrity of the country. SSP Hoshiarpur Sandeep Kumar Malik paid tribute to the martyrs during the tribute ceremony.
He described the Punjab Police as an unparalleled force, which served the country with unmatched dedication both during peace and crisis. He said that since September 1981, the Punjab Police has sacrificed 1,802 officers while on duty, including three police personnel from this year alone.
Speaking after paying tribute at the Police Martyrs' Memorial, SSP Malik said that it is because of these martyrs that we are sleeping peacefully today. He said that Punjab Police has a proud legacy of bravery, courage and commitment to uproot terrorism and the contribution of Punjab Police in maintaining peace and communal harmony in the state is unparalleled.
During this, a memorial parade was held at the Police Martyrs' Memorial, where the names of the police martyrs were read out, floral tributes were offered to them and their families were honored.
After the function, SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik met the families of the police martyrs, listened to their problems and assured them of continuous support from the Punjab government and the police department.
On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Nicas Kumar and all the police officers of the district were present.
