Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, January 30:- With the aim of carrying forward the immortal message of social, economic and political equality given by Sri Guru Ravidass Ji almost six centuries ago, the Bhagwant Singh Mann government of Punjab has decided to start a series of year-long state-level events dedicated to the 650th Parkash Purb of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji from February 1. This information was given by Punjab Finance Minister Mr. Harpal Singh Cheema on Friday in Mohali.
The Finance Minister, who paid homage to Sri Guru Ravidas Ji on the occasion of his 649th Parkash Purb in Mohali with MLA Kulwant Singh and participated in the Nagar Kirtan that started from Sri Guru Ravidas Bhawan, Phase-7, Mohali, said that the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann is fully committed to convey the teachings and ideology of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji to the people, especially the younger generation.
On this occasion, MLA Kulwant Singh Mohali said that the Punjab Government will celebrate the 650th Parkash Purb of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji with full devotion and wide public participation.
Giving information about an important initiative, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that the Punjab Government has taken a historic decision to establish a Sri Guru Ravidas Bani Study Centre near Dera Ballan (Jalandhar district), the aim of which is to disseminate the teachings of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji globally. He said that the government has purchased more than 9 acres of land in Naugaja village and Faridpur at a cost of Rs. 10.50 crore, which is the first of its kind in the country.
The Finance Minister said that this study center will become a center for research, preservation of Bani and propagation, from where the Bani and ideology of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji will be disseminated through lectures, seminars, publications, educational programs and community activities, the focus of which will be equality, compassion and social justice.
He further said that a high-level committee has been constituted by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann under his (Finance Minister) leadership, which will prepare a detailed work plan for the year-round events.
The Finance Minister said, “Our government feels proud to be associated with this great work. These initiatives will prove to be a guide for the coming generations and will play a significant role in reducing social and economic inequalities.”
A large number of devotees from all walks of life participated in the grand Nagar Kirtan taken out on this occasion. Apart from this, many local leaders including the Chairperson of the District Planning Committee, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, Mrs. Prabhjot Kaur, were also present.
