Jalandhar:- Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Punjab later this month. According to senior and reliable railway sources, he is expected to visit Jalandhar Cantonment Railway Station on July 13 to inaugurate its newly redeveloped facilities.
Sources also suggest that the Prime Minister's visit may not be limited to the railway station inauguration. Plans are reportedly underway to organize a large public rally in Jalandhar, where Modi could formally launch the Bharatiya Janata Party's campaign for the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections.
Following reports of the Prime Minister's proposed visit, the civil administration, Railway Protection Force (RPF), and Punjab Police have been placed on high alert. Security arrangements are being strengthened in and around Jalandhar Cantonment Railway Station. If the visit takes place as expected on July 13, it is likely to be a significant event for both Punjab's political landscape and its development agenda.
However, General Manager Rajesh Kumar Pandey has not officially confirmed the proposed visit. He said the final schedule would be determined based on directions received from higher authorities.
Notably, Jalandhar Cantonment Railway Station has been extensively redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the Government of India's nationwide initiative to modernize railway stations with upgraded infrastructure and passenger amenities.
