Karnal, January 6: The Karnal Municipal Corporation's anti-encroachment drive continues. To keep the city clean and maintain smooth traffic flow, the municipal corporation's enforcement team removed encroachments from Basant Vihar Road in Zone Number 1 on Tuesday. During the drive, the team seized about three to four empty kiosks illegally placed on the road and instructed shopkeepers to move their goods kept outside their shops back inside.
Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vaishali Sharma said that the municipal corporation is continuously working to free the city from encroachments. As part of this effort, an anti-encroachment drive was conducted in the Basant Vihar Road area, and shopkeepers who had placed goods and signboards outside their designated areas were instructed to move them inside.
She said that before the action, announcements were made in the area for three to four days to make all shopkeepers and street vendors aware of the need to keep their goods within their designated boundaries. During the operation, the goods of many shopkeepers were found inside their shops, and those whose goods were outside were instructed to move them inside. She warned the shopkeepers that currently only the goods are being moved inside, but next time, goods found on the road will be confiscated, and fines will also be imposed.
The Municipal Commissioner said that such campaigns not only make the city clean but also improve traffic flow and provide a safe environment for the people. She urged shopkeepers and street vendors to be responsible and abandon the habit of encroaching on public spaces.
She said that the municipal corporation has issued instructions to keep shop goods within their designated boundaries, and shopkeepers should follow them. She clarified that the municipal corporation's campaign to make roads and markets encroachment-free will continue.
The enforcement team included Municipal Corporation Sanitation Inspectors Mandeep Singh and Sandeep Kumar, and motivators Deepmala and Mahendra Kumar.
