Lalru, 25 September:- Taking another important step towards providing better public transport facilities to the residents of Lalru, constituency MLA S. Kuljit Singh Randhawa today inaugurated the new bus stand constructed at a cost of Rs 3.20 crore and dedicated it to the people.
A prayer ceremony was held according to religious traditions on the occasion of the inauguration of the new bus stand. Speaking on the occasion, MLA S. Kuljit Singh Randhawa said that with the commencement of the new bus stand, the residents of Lalru would get better transport facilities, convenient travel and modern amenities.
He said that the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, is paying special attention to strengthening infrastructure and public facilities keeping in view the daily needs of the people. The aim of the government is to provide better facilities closer to the people and make the lives of the common people more convenient.
MLA Randhawa said that the new bus stand would fulfil a long-standing need of the residents of Lalru and would also help streamline the city's transport system. He said that keeping public convenience at the centre, continuous work is being carried out to strengthen development works and basic infrastructure as per the requirement in Lalru as well as across the entire constituency.
On the occasion, PRTC Director S. Gurpreet Singh Virk said that as per the directions of the MLA, a proposal for three new bus routes has been prepared to further improve transport facilities for the residents of Lalru. These include proposals to start bus services from Lalru to Patiala, Lalru to PGI Chandigarh and Lalru to Handesra. He said that the commencement of these routes would provide great convenience to the people of Lalru and surrounding areas for commuting.
MLA Randhawa said that the initiatives being undertaken by the Punjab Government to further strengthen public transport would directly benefit the common people. He said that efforts to develop Lalru and fulfil the needs of the people on a priority basis would continue.
On the occasion, Municipal Council President Zorawar Singh, Senior Vice-President Harish Madan, Vice-President Aman Rana, councillors and ward in-charges, village panches and sarpanches, party office-bearers and a large number of city residents were present.
