Chandigarh, August 2026:- The Chandigarh Gatka Association (Regd.) and the Chandigarh Gurdwara Sthapna Committee (CGAC) are jointly organizing the 'National Gatka Trials 2026'. The objective of these trials is to select teams for the 4th 'Virsa Sambhal National Gatka Championship 2026', organized by the 'Meeri Peeri Seva Society'.
These trials will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Gurdwara Sahib, Sector 22-D, Chandigarh. Players from any state in India and across all age groups are eligible to participate.
The trials will feature 'Single Soti' and 'Fari Soti' competitions, providing Gatka players with an opportunity to showcase their skills and compete for selection at the national level.
A total of eight teams will be selected through these trials. Each team will consist of three players—two men and one woman. The selected teams will subsequently represent their respective states in the 4th 'Virsa Sambhal National Gatka Championship 2026'. This championship is scheduled to be held on September 27, 2026, at Gurdwara Garna Sahib, Bodal (Dasuya), Hoshiarpur.
A cash prize of ?1,50,000 has also been announced for the championship; this further enhances the event's significance and encourages players to participate and excel in 'Gatka', the traditional martial art of the Sikhs.

Chairman's Message
Sardar Gurjot Singh Sahni, Chairman of the Chandigarh Gatka Association, stated that the primary objective of organizing these trials is not only to identify talented Gatka players but also to encourage and inspire them to participate in competitive Gatka and achieve excellence at the national level. Sardar Gurjot Singh Sahni further stated that *Langar* (community kitchen) services would be arranged for all participating players and attendees during the trials. He noted that providing meals and hospitality to the players is a key part of the organizers' commitment to ensuring that athletes can participate comfortably and focus on their game.
He also expressed gratitude to the volunteers, organizers, coaches, *sevadars* (service volunteers), and supporters who are dedicating their time and resources to make this event a success.

Registration
The deadline for registration is August 29, 2026. Interested players can register via the Google Form available on the Chandigarh Gatka Association's Instagram profile. There is no registration fee for the trials.
