Patiala, November 19: Harpic World Toilet College Punjab and Patiala Municipal Corporation celebrated World Toilet Day with sanitation workers. In this program, the sanitation workers gathered discussed the importance of World Toilet Day and the importance of cleanliness for improving health globally. On this occasion, the chief guest, Dr. Navinder Singh, Health Officer of Municipal Corporation Patiala, advised the sanitation workers to maintain their health, stay away from drugs and use safety equipment while cleaning.
During this, information was also given to the workers about safety standards and facilities. In future, all sanitation workers of Patiala Municipal Corporation will be included in the training program in collaboration with Harpic World Toilet College Punjab. This training will teach sanitation, health safety, waste management, social welfare schemes, personal development, housekeeping and soft skills.
Harpic World Toilet College Punjab has been working for the training and development of sanitation workers since 2021. Till date, more than 5,000 sanitation workers have been trained in Punjab, while this year the target of adding 2,500 more workers will be achieved. Apart from this, a school sanitation program is also being run to improve cleanliness in government schools. In which toilets and washbasins of government schools of Patiala are cleaned every month. 
Through this program, thousands of children are also being taught hygiene lessons. On the occasion of World Toilet Day, sanitation workers from various wards of the city including Amandeep Singh Sekhon, Rishabh Gupta, Jagtar Singh, Jwala Singh, Mandeep Singh, Inderjit Singh, Rashid Ansari and Babbu Ram of the Municipal Corporation were also present.
