Sangrur/Bhawanigarh, October 3:- MLA Narinder Kaur Bharaj today formally commenced paddy procurement at the grain markets of Sangrur and Bhawanigarh and reviewed the arrangements made for the convenience of farmers during the procurement season. On the occasion, she interacted with farmers, commission agents and concerned officials and asked them to work in coordination to ensure that the procurement process is completed smoothly.

MLA Narinder Kaur Bharaj said that the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is committed to ensuring uninterrupted procurement of farmers’ produce. She said that ensuring timely procurement and payment for the crop produced through the hard work of farmers is a priority of the government. She assured that farmers would not be allowed to face any kind of difficulty in the grain markets.

She directed the concerned officials to ensure that along with the arrival of paddy in the markets, the procurement and lifting process also continues uninterrupted, so that farmers and commission agents do not face inconvenience due to accumulation of crop. She said that officials of procurement agencies and market committees should regularly monitor the procurement process and ensure immediate resolution of any problem.

The MLA also directed the authorities to ensure proper arrangements for basic facilities, including cleanliness, drinking water, lighting and toilets in the grain markets. She said that special attention should be paid to the facilities and convenience of farmers, labourers and other persons working in the markets.

On the occasion, she appealed to farmers to bring only dry and clean paddy to the markets so that there is no unnecessary delay in procurement. She also urged farmers to use the available means for proper management of paddy residue instead of burning it.

Narinder Kaur Bharaj said that with the cooperation of farmers, commission agents, labourers and procurement agencies, the paddy procurement season would be conducted smoothly. She assured that she would remain in continuous contact with the officials to resolve problems related to the grain markets.

On the occasion, President of the Arhtiya Association Sangrur Sukhwinder Singh Mann, Chairman of Market Committee Bhawanigarh Pardeep Mittal, President of Municipal Council Bhawanigarh Avtar Tari, Pardeep Singla Sangrur, Councillor Krishan Lal Vicky, Beeta President, Councillor Raj Nafria and Jaggi Gharacho were also present.
