Hoshiarpur: In view of the Municipal Corporation elections, District Magistrate Aashika Jain has issued significant orders aimed at maintaining law and order and ensuring free, fair, and peaceful voting in the district. According to the orders, a ban on public gatherings of more than five people and the holding of public meetings will be in effect in the areas going to the polls, starting from 4:00 PM on July 3 until the conclusion of the voting process on July 5.
The District Magistrate issued this order exercising powers under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023. The order prohibits the holding of any kind of unlawful assembly or public meeting in the election areas during this 48-hour period.
However, the order clarifies that there is no restriction on door-to-door election campaigning; provided that such campaigning is limited to a group of no more than four individuals.
Additionally, the District Magistrate has directed that all political leaders, office-bearers, and party workers who are not registered voters of the respective constituency must leave that constituency from 4:00 PM on July 3 until the voting concludes.
The district administration stated that this order has come into effect immediately.
This order, issued by District Magistrate Aashika Jain, became effective at 4:00 PM on July 3, 2026, and will remain in force until the voting process concludes on July 5, 2026.
