Dhuri, 26 September:- The role being played by Sakhis in effectively implementing the 'Mukh Mantri Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana' being run by the Punjab Government for the welfare, dignity and empowerment of women at the grassroots level is commendable. This was stated by Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Mann, wife of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, during the Sakhi Milni event organised to honour Sakhis of the Dhuri Assembly constituency.
Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Mann said that Sakhis are the backbone of the Punjab Government, working as an important link between the government and the people to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach eligible beneficiaries. She said that under the 'Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana', Sakhis have made significant contributions in identifying eligible women, registering them, filling forms, completing required documents and providing information about the scheme.
She said that despite incomplete documents of many women, Sakhis helped them complete the required formalities and worked with full dedication to connect eligible women with the government scheme. She said that the spirit of service displayed by Sakhis is commendable as well as inspirational for others.
Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Mann said that the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, is fulfilling its promise made to women by providing eligible women with a Samman Bhatta of Rs 1,000-1,500 through the 'Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana'. She said that the initiative reflects the government's commitment to the dignity, empowerment and social security of women.
She said that development works are also being carried out at a war footing in the Dhuri constituency. Projects related to the construction and improvement of roads, Schools of Eminence, libraries and other basic infrastructure are underway at a cost of crores of rupees. The objective of these works is to provide better facilities to the people and further accelerate the all-round development of Dhuri.
She said that women's empowerment is not limited to financial assistance but is linked with providing women dignity, rights, self-confidence and the ability to take their own decisions. She said that when a woman becomes strong, her family and society also become stronger. She encouraged the Sakhis to continue contributing to public welfare works with the same spirit of service in the future.
On the occasion, Sukhvir Singh, OSD to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, said that the Punjab Government is ensuring the welfare of ordinary families and mothers and sisters through people-centric schemes, including the 'Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana'. Referring to development works worth crores of rupees underway in the Dhuri constituency, he appreciated the hard work of Sakhis in visiting households, filling forms and ensuring that government schemes reach the people.
During the Sakhi Milni event, Chairman of Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation Dalvir Singh Dhillon, Chairman of Market Committee Dhuri Rajwant Singh Ghulli and Waqf Board Member Dr Anwar Bhassaur also shared their views.
On the occasion, OSD to the Chief Minister Sukhvir Singh, Chairman of Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation Dalvir Singh Dhillon, Chairman of Punjab Gau Sewa Commission Ashok Lakha, Chairman of Market Committee Dhuri Rajwant Singh Ghulli, Waqf Board Member Dr Anwar Bhassaur, Halqa Coordinator (Women Wing) Harvinder Kaur, Chairman Zila Parishad Rachhpal Singh Bhullar, Chairman Block Samiti Ranyodh Singh, President of Nagar Council Dhuri Amarjot Kaur Bajwa, Rubal Bajwa, Gagan Jawandha and a large number of Sakhis and local leaders were present.
