Karnal, September 05:- Under a special campaign launched against drug smugglers, Karnal District Police is taking continuous, strict, and effective action against individuals involved in drug trafficking and illegal trade. In line with this, the Anti-Narcotics Cell team of Karnal successfully arrested two accused along with 840 grams of opium.
The operation was conducted under the leadership of Anti-Narcotics Cell Incharge Sub-Inspector Rajan Singh. Investigating Officer Assistant Sub-Inspector Pradeep Kumar, along with the police team, acted on tip-off information late in the evening near Ramnagar Police Station, Karnal, and apprehended both accused. Upon searching them as per regulations, 840 grams of opium was recovered from their possession.
The arrested accused have been identified as Gurcharan Singh alias Channi, son of Hajoor Singh, resident of Ranjit Nagar Gondar, PS Nissing, District Karnal; and Ranjit Singh alias Kalu, son of Nishan Singh, resident of Dera Gondar Road, Nissing, PS Nissing, District Karnal.
In this regard, a case under the NDPS Act has been registered at Ramnagar Police Station, Karnal, and both accused have been arrested.
The police are thoroughly interrogating both suspects. Further investigation is underway to gather details regarding the source of the opium supply, the trafficking network, and other individuals involved in this illegal trade.
