Una, June 17: The Una District Police have taken significant action against illegal liquor and narcotics across various incidents, registering cases against several accused individuals. Additionally, police have taken action in a separate case involving charges of assault and trespassing into a home.
**96 Bottles of Illegal Liquor Seized from a Shop in Bahdala**
Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by SI Sanjay Kumar (under the jurisdiction of Police Station Sadar Una) conducted a raid in the Bahdala area on Wednesday. The police searched a confectionery shop owned by Rahul, a resident of Jalgra (Tehsil and District Una). During the search, 96 bottles of country-made liquor (VRV Santra brand) were recovered from inside the shop. A case has been registered against the accused, Rahul, under the Excise Act, and an investigation is underway.
**Over 25 kg of Poppy Husk Seized; Two Accused Arrested**
In another incident, a team from the STF (Northern Range, Kangra) searched a Punjab-registered Swift Dzire car parked near RR Palace in Bahdala, acting on secret information. During the search, 25 kg and 30 grams of poppy husk (*doda afeem*) were recovered from a sack kept in the car's trunk.
During interrogation, the driver, Rajat Kumar—a resident of Main Bazaar, Kiratpur Sahib, District Rupnagar (Punjab)—revealed that the contraband had been transferred to his vehicle from an HP-registered Santro car parked nearby. Based on this information, the police searched the Santro car and recovered ?59,500 in cash.
A case has been registered against Rajat Kumar and the driver of the Santro car, Arun (a resident of Ward No. 4, Bahdala, Tehsil Mehatpur, District Una), under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter. **Case Registered for Trespassing and Assault**
Kusam, daughter of Bahadur Singh and a resident of Hiranagar (under the jurisdiction of Tahliwal Police Station), has lodged a complaint stating that on June 17 at around 11:00 AM, her cousin Karandeep Singh came to their home and began verbally abusing her father. According to the complaint, Karandeep Singh and Jaspreet Singh (son of Surendra Singh) trespassed into the house and assaulted both her and her mother.
Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case against both accused individuals under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation is underway.
Police officials stated that action is being taken in accordance with the rules in all such cases, and further legal proceedings will be initiated based on the investigation.
