Hisar:- Dr. Vinod Kumar Verma, Vice-Chancellor of Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (LUVAS), Hisar, formally unveiled the brochure for the 24th NAVS (National Academy of Veterinary Sciences) Convocation and Scientific Conference-2026 during a dignified ceremony held at his office on Monday. This national conference is scheduled to be organized on October 22 and 23, 2026, under the joint aegis of LUVAS and the National Academy of Veterinary Sciences (India). The theme for this year's conference is "Transforming Indigenous Livestock and Poultry Production through Smart Technologies and the One Health Concept for Viksit Bharat-2047: Emerging Prospects."
Speaking on the occasion of the brochure's unveiling, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Vinod Kumar Verma stated that integrating modern technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), digital innovations, and the 'One Health' concept into indigenous livestock and poultry production systems would provide a new direction to the agriculture and animal husbandry sectors. He remarked that the conference would serve as an effective platform for scientists, academicians, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and livestock farmers to exchange knowledge, experiences, and innovative research findings.
Dr. Verma emphasized that adopting scientific innovations is crucial in the current era to enhance productivity in the livestock and poultry sectors, address the challenges posed by climate change, and strengthen animal and human health security. In this context, the conference will play a pivotal role in shaping future strategies and the direction of research.
Veterinarians, scientists, researchers, industry representatives, extension specialists, and progressive livestock farmers from across the country will participate in the conference. During the event, in-depth deliberations will be held on key topics such as the modernization of indigenous livestock and poultry production systems, productivity enhancement, climate-resilient animal husbandry, disease surveillance, antimicrobial resistance, biosecurity, animal welfare, and sustainable value chain development.
Organizing Secretaries Dr. Praveen Kumar Gehlot and Dr. Rajesh Chhabra stated that the conference will feature one plenary session and two technical sessions. The first technical session will focus on "Indigenous Knowledge Systems, Indigenous Breeds, and One Health for Sustainable Livestock Development and Health Security," while the second technical session will see experts sharing their views on "Smart Technologies, Artificial Intelligence, and Precision Innovations for Indigenous Livestock and Poultry Systems."
They further mentioned that a poster presentation competition would be organized during the conference, for which research abstracts have been invited from research scholars, faculty members, and veterinarians. The deadline for submitting abstracts has been set for September 27, 2026.
Also present on the occasion were the Dean of the College of Veterinary Sciences, Dr. Rajesh Khurana; Director of Research, Dr. Sushila Maan; Heads of Departments Dr. Rajesh Chhabra and Dr. Praveen Kumar Gehlot; along with Dr. Swati Dahiya, Dr. Akhil Gupta, Dr. Tarun, Dr. Maan Singh, Dr. Mahavir, Dr. Sandeep Panihar, Dr. Sonu, and other scientists and officials of the university.
