Patiala, December 19- Additional District Magistrate Isha Singla has declared dry day from December 19 to December 21- 2024 in Patiala district, exercising the powers conferred under Section 54 of the Punjab Excise Act 1914 during the Municipal Corporation elections. This order will be applicable within the limits of the constituency / place.
He said that during the said ban period, there is a complete ban on the sale, use, consumption, serving, storage of liquor and use of other intoxicants in any liquor shop (desi and English), hotel, shop, restaurant, club, beer bar, premises where sale and consumption of liquor is legally permitted or any other public place etc. in the constituency.
In the orders issued by the Additional District Magistrate, it has been said that the Municipal Corporation elections are to be held on December 21 and the counting of votes is also to be held on December 21. During these elections, there is a danger of theft and leakage of liquor, which can affect the election process and there is a possibility of law and order situation deteriorating due to fights among people.
Therefore, it is necessary to declare a ban on intoxication to ensure that the election process is conducted in a peaceful and transparent manner.
Liquor shops will remain closed till the completion of the election process till 21
