Garhshankar, October 5 (Hari Krishan Gangar):- Gandhi Jayanti was observed today at Dr. Bhag Singh Hall, Garhshankar, against communalism and imperialism under the leadership of Bibi Surinder Kaur Chumber. On the occasion, state president of Janvadi Istri Sabha Bibi Subhash Mattu said that Mahatma Gandhi, after receiving higher education, continued to fight against the British government by taking the people along with him. He called upon the people of the country to boycott foreign goods and use indigenous products. Following this, the British were forced to leave India on August 15, 1947.
Bibi Subhash Mattu said that Mahatma Gandhi made a valuable contribution to the country’s independence. Therefore, we should all maintain mutual brotherhood and social harmony. On the occasion, Neelam Vaddowan conducted the proceedings of the stage effectively and called for strengthening Janvadi Istri Sabha to safeguard democracy.
District leader Bibi Prem Lata, Surinder Kaur, Rashpal Kaur, Kashmir Kaur, Jaswinder Kaur, Sunita Rani, Manpreet Kaur, Tajinder Kaur, Mahinder Kaur, Rubina and Kamlesh Kaur, among others, were present on the occasion.
