Ratia, October 8 – Khushpreet, a second-year BA student, was selected as the best player in the two-day 13th Annual Sports Competition 2025-26 at Shaheed Davinder Singh Government Postgraduate Women's College, Ratia. College Public Relations Officer Dr. Surendra Sharma stated that the chief guest at the closing ceremony was Mr. Deepak Kamboj, coach of the Ratia Indian Disabled Cricket Team.
College Principal Paramjeet Sandha welcomed the chief guest, staff members, participants, and students and congratulated the Sports Department on the successful organization of the competition. Addressing the students, Chief Guest Deepak Kamboj said that sports are an integral part of life. Sports not only strengthen physical health but also develop self-confidence, discipline, team spirit, and leadership skills.
He emphasized that participation in sports, along with education, is essential for the all-round development of students. Sports teach us to accept both victory and defeat with equal courage. The chief guest congratulated the winning athletes and encouraged other students to participate actively in sports in the future. He stated that the experiences gained on the sports field prove useful in every challenge of life.
Presenting the annual report of the college sports department, Sports Incharge Prof. Jasbir expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the chief guest for taking time out of his busy schedule to encourage the students.
He also commended the staff members, NSS volunteers, and students for their support in organizing the competitions. He stated that the event was a success due to everyone's active participation and dedication. Finally, he congratulated the winning students and wished them further excellence in the future.
As per the results of the second day's competition, Ruby got first place in discus throw, Aarti got second place and Nirmal got third place, Mahekpreet Kaur got first place in high jump, Preeti got second place and Lovepreet Kaur MA Hindi got third place, Khushpreet BA 2nd year, Pankaj Rani got first place in 1500 meter race and Lovepreet got third place, Khushpreet in 800 meter race got first place, Roshni Devi got second place and Pawan got third place, Khushpreet Kaur in 100 meter race got first place, Poonam got second place and Preeti BA got third place, Lovepreet and Paramjeet MA Hindi 1st year got first place in Gymkhana Game Three Leg Race, Preeti and Nirmal got second place and Ekta and Poonam BA final year got third place and Sogita got first place in spoon lemon race, Sneha got second place and Mamta got third place.
