Chandigarh (Harminder Nagpal):- The sacred festival of Karwa Chauth was celebrated with great enthusiasm, devotion and fervour by women in Ram Darbar today. Women from the area gathered to perform the Karwa Chauth puja with traditional rituals and devotion, praying for the long lives of their husbands, prosperity and the happiness of their families.

On this sacred occasion of Karwa Chauth, Lord Ganesha, Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati and Chauth Mata were worshipped. The women performed the rituals and prayed for the long lives of their husbands, a happy married life and the well-being and prosperity of their families.

During the puja, the women collectively listened to the Karwa Chauth story. After the narration, they followed traditional customs by rotating the puja thali in front of one another and singing traditional Karwa Chauth songs together. Folk songs such as “Kaati Naya Teri Na Ghoom Charkha Pheri, Na Ban Paai Na Sui Ch Thaga Paai…” brought the cultural traditions of the festival to life.

Afterwards, all the women exchanged Karwa Chauth greetings, touched the feet of elders to seek their blessings, and embraced women of their own age group, conveying a message of love, affection and togetherness. The entire event reflected enthusiasm, mutual harmony and the beauty of Indian culture.

Former Mayor Kamlesh Banarsi Das said that she had been celebrating Karwa Chauth with the women of Ram Darbar for nearly 26 years. The aim of the event is to unite women, strengthen mutual love and brotherhood, and pass on Indian culture and traditional customs to the next generation.

Extending her heartfelt wishes to all women on Karwa Chauth, she prayed for their happy married lives, and the happiness and prosperity of their families.
