Karnal, September 12:- Under the able guidance of Superintendent of Police Karnal, Shri Karan Goyal, District Karnal Police is continuously taking strict and effective action against anti-social elements involved in possessing illegal weapons and carrying out criminal activities with the use of firearms. In this connection, the team of the Special Detective Unit Staff, Karnal, has succeeded in arresting an accused in a case involving illegal arms possession. An illegal country-made .315 bore pistol, 02 live rounds and 15 live rounds of 32 bore were recovered from the possession of the accused.
The police team constituted under the leadership of Special Detective Unit In-charge Inspector Praveen Kumar, acting on a secret tip received by Sub-Inspector Naresh Kumar, apprehended and arrested Amit, son of Surjit Singh, resident of Shergarh Tapu village, Karnal, from Shergarh Tapu, Karnal.
During a search of the accused, the police team recovered an illegal country-made .315 bore pistol, 02 live rounds and 15 live rounds of 32 bore from his possession. Preliminary interrogation revealed that cases under the Arms Act and other criminal cases are also registered against the accused.
In this regard, a case has been registered against the accused under the relevant provisions of the Arms Act at Kunjpura Police Station, Karnal. The accused was arrested as per procedure and produced before the Hon’ble Court, which granted 05 days of police remand. During the remand, the accused will be interrogated thoroughly to gather information regarding the involvement of his other associates in the case and the illegal weapons, so that legal action can also be taken against them as per law.
District Karnal Police has made it clear that strict and effective legal action against anti-social elements involved in possessing, buying or selling illegal weapons, or carrying out criminal activities through the use of weapons, will continue.
