Hoshiarpur, September 05:- In the Under-15 Women's Inter-District Tournament organized by the Punjab Cricket Association, Hoshiarpur team defeated Kapurthala team by 9 wickets and earned 4 points. Giving information in this regard, HDCA Secretary Dr. Raman Ghai stated that in this 35-overs-a-side one-day match, Hoshiarpur team won the toss and invited Kapurthala team to bat first.
He informed that Kapurthala team could score only 97 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 35 overs against Hoshiarpur's brilliant bowling. Ankshita Atul contributed 26 runs while Yashpreet scored 15 runs. Bowling superbly for Hoshiarpur, Kashvi Rana took 2 wickets, while Khushi Chaddha, Maika Thakur, Anshika, Soni Kumari, and Sana claimed 1 wicket each.
Dr. Ghai shared that chasing a target of 98 runs in 35 overs, Hoshiarpur team achieved the target in 15 overs for the loss of just 1 wicket, courtesy of captain Pratika's unbeaten 35 runs, thereby clinching a 9-wicket victory. Apart from captain Pratika, Rajlakshmi Verma scored 19 runs and Bhumika Sharma made an unbeaten 10 runs. He added that with this win, Hoshiarpur got off to a good start in the tournament by securing 4 points.
Expressing happiness over Hoshiarpur's victory, HDCA President Dr. Daljit Khelan, Joint Secretary Vivek Sahni, Thakur Yograj, Tournament Committee Chairman Dr. Pankaj Shiv, Jatinder Sood, Subhash Sharma, Amit Thakur, and all other members congratulated the team and wished them luck for upcoming matches.
District Women's Coach Davinder Kaur Kalyan, Assistant Coach Nikita Kumari, Head Coach Daljit Singh, Assistant Coach Ashok Sharma, Praveen Kumar, Pankaj Pinka, and Dinesh Sharma also expressed happiness and hoped the team would continue its great performance.
On this occasion, District Trainer and former national player Kuldeep Dhami praised the team's performance, stating that just as they performed well in this match, they would continue to excel in the upcoming games. Dr. Ghai informed that Hoshiarpur's next match will be played against Ropar district team on September 7 in Hoshiarpur.
