New Delhi:- A heartbreaking incident has come to light in Bangladesh's Rajbari district, where a petrol pump worker, Ripan Saha (30), was crushed under a vehicle and killed. According to information, a black SUV arrived at the petrol pump early on Friday and started running away without paying after filling up the petrol pump with about 5,000 taka of fuel. When Ripan tried to stop the vehicle, the accused ran over him, killing him on the spot.
Police have arrested the owner of the vehicle, Abul Hashim, a former office bearer of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, and his driver in this case.
Cases of violence against the Hindu community are continuously increasing in Bangladesh ahead of the general elections to be held on February 12. According to the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, 51 incidents of communal violence were recorded in December 2025 alone. Several Hindus have been targeted recently.
These include the murder of jeweller Prantosh Sarkar in Narsingdi and the burning to death by a mob of a garment factory worker in Memon Singh. Experts believe that this violence could be part of a conspiracy to intimidate minority voters.
