Chandigarh, July 6:- Haryana Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Mr. Krishan Kumar Bedi said that the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Naib Singh Saini is doing historic work in the field of sports. The state's sports policy has become a model for the entire country today. The government has taken many effective steps towards providing respect, better training, modern sports facilities and transparent encouragement to the players, as a result of which Haryana players are continuously bringing glory to the state and the country at the national and international levels.
The Social Justice and Empowerment Minister was addressing the audience while attending the closing ceremony of the 'Season One Corporate League' organized in Gosain Khera village of Jind late on Sunday evening as the chief guest. On this occasion, he also announced to give an amount of Rs. 7 lakh 21 thousand to the Sports Committee.
He said that the state government is committed to providing world-class facilities to the players. The youth are being provided better opportunities to progress through schemes like strengthening the sports infrastructure, scholarship of players, diet money, insurance scheme and sports excellence centres. He said that the government's aim is to maintain Haryana as the leading sports state of the country and to prepare excellent players for international competitions including future Olympics. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini, development work is being done equally in every sector including not only sports but also education, health, roads, irrigation, social justice, women empowerment and rural development in the state. Work is being done with complete transparency and accountability to extend the benefits of the government's public welfare policies to the person standing in the last row. He said that the state government is continuously providing employment, self-employment and skill development opportunities to the youth. With transparent recruitment process, modern education system and expansion of digital services, Haryana is establishing new dimensions of development. He called upon the people of the state to take maximum benefit of the government's public welfare schemes and become participants in the overall development of the state.
The Minister said that sports play an important role in keeping the young generation away from social evils like drugs. Youth who are regularly involved in sports activities adopt discipline, positive thinking and a healthy lifestyle and keep themselves away from habits like drugs. The state government is also running a comprehensive public awareness campaign against drugs along with encouraging the youth towards sports. The government is encouraging the players, making modern sports facilities available and organizing competitions at various levels so that maximum youth can join sports and showcase their talent.
He said that the government's aim is not only to produce excellent players but also to create a healthy, aware and drug-free society. In this direction, awareness programs, rallies, workshops and public relations campaigns are being conducted in coordination with various departments, through which the youth are being made aware of the ill effects of drugs. The state government has also called upon the general public, parents, teachers and social organizations to connect the youth with sports and play an active role in creating a drug-free society.
