Chandigarh, October 17:- With the strength of public trust, a commitment to good governance and dedication to public welfare, the Haryana government has completed two years of its third consecutive term. On this occasion, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini thanked the people of the state and said that the government was fulfilling the responsibility entrusted to it by the public with complete dedication, transparency, sensitivity and accountability. He said that their politics was not about power but about service. The aspirations of Haryana’s 28 million citizens were their priority, and their resolve was to take the state to new heights of development, equal opportunities and public welfare.
The Chief Minister was addressing a press conference in Chandigarh to mark the completion of two years of the state government’s third term. Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda and Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana were also present. On the occasion, he unveiled a booklet highlighting the government’s achievements over the past two years.
Targeting the opposition, the Chief Minister said that those who had described Haryana as number one during their tenure were now unable to accept the state’s actual progress and changing image. During their time, Haryana was number one in favouritism in recruitment through recommendations and the “parchi-kharchi” system, nepotism, fear, corruption and regionalism. Recommendations and the “parchi-kharchi” system had dominated recruitment instead of merit. Scams existed at every level, from the depths to the heights. Such governance had held back the state’s development and betrayed its people. During their ten years in government, development was concentrated in just one region while the rest of Haryana was neglected. During their tenure, people had to wait three days at a time to get gas cylinders, making Haryana number one in this regard. The state was also number one in false promises. They had promised 24-hour electricity, but Haryana was number one in receiving only four to five hours of power. This was why aware and informed people of Haryana decided on change and showed them the way out of power.
Congress Leaders Who Once Avoided Meeting People Are Now Roaming the Streets
Taking a dig at Congress leaders, the Chief Minister said that some people were now roaming the streets and trying to reach out to the public, but when they held power, they did not even like meeting ordinary people. He said that at the time, they found the smell of people’s sweat unpleasant. The Chief Minister alleged that the Congress’s wrong policies had caused hardship and harassment for people, and the public had already given its response.
Resolve to Make Haryana a Leading Developed State in India in Line with the ‘Viksit Bharat-2047’ Vision
The Chief Minister said that, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat-2047’, the government was committed to making Haryana one of the country’s leading developed states. With the spirit of ‘Viksit Haryana, Viksit Bharat’, every policy, scheme and decision had been focused on farmers’ prosperity, the economic empowerment of the poor, employment for youth, women’s dignity, and the expansion of education and healthcare facilities.
Concrete Steps to Turn Commitments into Achievements; 76 of 217 Commitments Fulfilled in Two Years
The Chief Minister said that the government believed the strong foundation of ‘Viksit Haryana, Viksit Bharat’ rested on farmers’ prosperity, the economic security of the poor, employment for youth, women’s dignity, and better education and healthcare facilities. This approach had remained at the centre of every government decision and scheme over the past two years. He said the government not only made promises but also delivered on them. Evidence of this was that 76 of the 217 commitments in its manifesto for the previous Assembly elections had been fulfilled in just two years. These included monthly financial assistance of Rs. 2,100 to eligible women under the Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana; procurement of all crops at the Minimum Support Price (MSP); legislation providing a five-year prison sentence for those manufacturing and selling counterfeit fertilisers, seeds and pesticides; a law to eradicate the problem of the “dunki route”; a guarantee of government jobs for every Agniveer from Haryana; free dialysis for kidney patients at all district government hospitals and medical colleges; free treatment worth up to Rs. 5 lakh for senior citizens above 70 years of age under the Ayushman Bharat scheme; job security for contractual employees; and ownership rights over land for lessees who had held leases before the formation of Haryana as a state. Work on the remaining 141 commitments was in progress.
The Chief Minister said Haryana had been Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s karmabhoomi and that he had a special attachment to the state. During his 18 visits to Haryana, the Prime Minister had presented projects worth more than Rs. 86,000 crore to the state. Over the past 12 years, Haryana had received more than Rs. 7 lakh crore under various Central government schemes.
HCS Examination Results Reflect a Change in the System; Youth Now Focused on Studies
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that earlier, young people had to make repeated rounds of political leaders to secure jobs. Instead of studying, they spent their time seeking recommendations. Today, young people were devoting their full attention to their studies and preparation for competitive examinations.
He said the HCS examination results had proved that young people were now getting jobs on the basis of merit. The Chief Minister stated that the government had so far provided jobs to 46,500 young people. He said even opposition leaders knew that, despite the system they had established, the present government had provided jobs without the “parchi-kharchi” system.
What Happened to the Promises Made on Drugs in Punjab? AAP Government Must Answer
Raising questions about the Punjab government’s performance on the drug problem, the Chief Minister said that the public had been promised that drug abuse would be reduced within three to six months. He asked what results had emerged from that promise so far.
The Chief Minister alleged that the Punjab government had wasted the time available to take action and that people were now even reluctant to complain against drugs because of fear. He said the Punjab government should answer for the promises it had made to the public.
Prime Minister Modi Working Tirelessly and Without Pause for the Country
The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was working continuously to take the country forward without tiring, stopping or taking a day off. His working style was an inspiration for public representatives. He said the Prime Minister’s work had raised expectations among people in different states of the country and among Indians living abroad. Referring to his visit to Sweden, the Chief Minister said that people there also raised slogans of “Modi-Modi” and were eager to work and invest in India. He described this as the result of the Prime Minister’s policies. Commenting on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the Chief Minister said that he did not understand the Prime Minister’s policies or their impact.
Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi, Commissioner and Secretary Dr. Amit Agrawal, Commissioner and Secretary Ashok Meena, Commissioner and Secretary K. Makrand Pandurang, Chief Minister’s Media Adviser Rajiv Jaitley and other officials were present on the occasion.
