Chandigarh, October 3:- Haryana Cooperation, Prisons, Tourism, Heritage and Elections Minister Dr. Arvind Sharma congratulated the athletes from Haryana who brought honour to the country with their outstanding performances at the Asian Games-2026, saying that athletes from the state have once again proved that Haryana is a sporting powerhouse of the country. He said that the achievement of athletes who have taken the Tricolour to the top on the international stage is a matter of pride for the entire state. Dr. Arvind Sharma said that Parveen Hooda of Rohtak, Ankus Panghal of Hisar, Sujeet Kalkal of Charkhi Dadri and Kirti Sharma of Jind have brought glory to Haryana by winning gold medals. From the boxing ring to the wrestling arena and the archery field, the golden brilliance of Haryana’s athletes has been visible.
He said that Haryana’s athletes have also brought glory to the country in shooting. Kamaljeet of Rewari and Suruchi of Jhajjar won the gold medal in the 10-metre air pistol mixed team event. Similarly, the participation of eight athletes from Haryana in the Indian men’s kabaddi team that won the gold medal is itself evidence of the state’s strong sporting culture.
The Cooperation Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the environment for sports and athletes in the country has changed. At the same time, under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini, the Haryana Government is continuously working to provide athletes with modern facilities, training and encouragement. The objective of the state’s sports policy is to provide opportunities to rural talent and take it to national and international platforms. Dr. Arvind Sharma said that when sons and daughters emerging from villages and ordinary families of Haryana take the Tricolour to the top at the Asian Games, it is a moment of pride for the entire state. The hard work of the athletes, the sacrifices of their families and the strong sporting culture created in the state are the real strengths behind this success.
He said that the Haryana Government is not only honouring and encouraging medal-winning athletes but is also laying special emphasis on connecting the new generation with sports. These achievements of the athletes will inspire thousands of young people in the state to enter the sporting arena and win medals for the country. Dr. Arvind Sharma congratulated all the medal-winning athletes, their coaches and family members and expressed confidence that in the upcoming competitions too, Haryana’s athletes would win more medals for the country and enhance the pride of the state.
