Hisar: March 7: The College of Fisheries Science at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CHSU) launched a week-long training program on "Skill Development and Career Advancement in the Fisheries Sector" for SC/ST students. The program was organized in collaboration with the Career Counseling and Placement Cell of the Directorate of Student Welfare. The program aims to empower students through skill development and provide them with better career opportunities in the fisheries and aquaculture sectors.
Dr. Ramesh Kumar Yadav, Dean, Directorate of Student Welfare, was the chief guest at the inauguration. In his address, he stated that such training programs promote inclusive education and play a vital role in empowering SC/ST students by providing them with vocational skills and making them self-reliant.
Highlighting the growing potential of the fisheries sector, he explained that this sector is making a significant contribution to ensuring food security, creating employment, and promoting sustainable livelihoods. He encouraged participants to actively participate in the training sessions, emphasizing the importance of developing technical knowledge, practical skills, and self-confidence.
The program was organized in the presence of Dr. Rajesh Gera, Dean of the College of Fisheries, Dr. Rachna Gupta, Officer-in-Charge, and Dr. Dalip Kumar Bishnoi, Head of the Department. The program is being coordinated by Dr. Manju Rani and Dr. Kavita Sharma, who will oversee the conduct of the training sessions throughout the week.
Various sessions will be held during the training.
The training will include daily lectures, practical demonstrations, and interactive sessions by experts in various fisheries disciplines. These sessions will cover important topics such as aquaculture practices, fish health management, fish resource management, fish processing and value addition, entrepreneurship development, and employment opportunities in the fisheries sector. Dr. Kavita Sharma presented the vote of thanks, while student Isha moderated the session. ADSW Dr. Sandeep Dhawan, Dr. Subodh Agarwal, faculty, staff, and participants were present on the occasion.
